Help
Desk: Frequently Asked Questions In an effort to reduce
costs, all of the receipt printer manufacturers discontinued shipping
drivers with the products over five years ago.
Links to the receipt printer drivers are available on our
website – click on receipt printers link, then click on the
manufacturer type of printer that you have, then click on the download
drivers hyperlink which will take you directly to the manufacturers
driver download page. This
way you are assured that you have the most current drivers for your
receipt printer.
This is usually not the
case, or it means that you can use any type of 80-column printer that
prints on 8-1/2” x 11” paper, not 40-column receipt printers that
print on 3” paper or 3-1/8” thermal paper.
POS Software developers will recommend specific POS hardware
products, including receipt printers, and write code for the receipt
printer print width, font, auto-cut function, cash drawer kick-out
codes, etc. All POS
software developers will recommend specific receipt printers including
Manufacturer Make, Model and Interface (Parallel or Serial).
If you are not sure of the compatible receipt printers, please
consult your software developer or contact our sales office.
Parallel Interface receipt printers in most cases are more
common than Serial Interface receipt printers. The common interface for barcode scanners is
USB (Universal Serial BUS) which connects to the USB port on your computer. USB barcode scanners
have a built-in decoder that translates the bar code information into keystrokes.
Barcode scanners are non-intelligent devices and do not require device drivers, their function
is to read barcodes - they do not perform software functions. |
