A POS System consists of software and hardware components: a cash drawer, receipt printer, barcode scanner. Additional peripherals such as bar code printer, customer pole display and magnetic strip reader for processing credit card payments are also available for QuickBooks POS. We offer QuickBooks POS Software for Retailers and conveniently bundled hardware components recommended for QuickBooks POS or individual components - it's your choice. Connecting the peripheral devices can be accomplished in a very short time, in fact, the only hardware device that requires drivers is the Citizen CT-S300 thermal receipt printer! The Citizen CT-S300 is a USB interface thermal receipt printer with auto-cut and connects to your computer via the USB port. The Citizen CT-S300 thermal receipt printer is packaged with a power supply and we include a Free USB interface cable. The MMF Value Line medium duty cash drawer connects directly into a RJ port (it looks like a phone jack) on the Citizen CT-S300 thermal receipt printer, this is referred to as a printer driven cash drawer. The QuickBooks POS Software sends a electronic signal from the thermal receipt printer that triggers the cash drawer to open while the receipt prints. The Hand Held Products ImageTeam 3800g linear image barcode scanner utilizes a USB interface. This type of interface plugs directly into the computer USB port. This is the most common interface with all barcode scanner devices regardless of the manufacturer brand. |

No drivers are required for barcode scanners, just connect it to your computer your Windows Operating System will load the drivers needed for the barcode scanner. Any manufacturer brand USB interface barcode scanner can be used with QuickBooks POS, however, technical support from Intuit is only for the Honeywell 3800g linear image barcode scanner. The Magtek magnetic card reader is also a USB interface device and plugs into the USB port on your computer. The magnetic card reader alone will not allow you to process credit cards. QuickBooks POS Software is capable of processing credit cards through QuickBooks POS Merchant Service. In order to use the Magtek magnetic card reader you will have to set up a merchant account through Intuit. If you already have a merchant account and are currently processing credit cards with a credit card terminal, you would not need the magnetic card reader unless you wanted to take advantage of the integrated merchant services that QuickBooks offers.
